Beginning Quarter 3

We have had a wonderful first have of the year!  I am looking forward to see what the second half of this year will hold for all my students. We still have so much to learn!!!

As we begin the 3rd quarter I want to encourage parents to be reading and talking with your students each night. This will help your children grow in their reading abilities. There are lots of questions that you can ask your first grader before, during, and after reading books. (ex. What do you think this story will be about? Who is the main character of the story? Where does the story take place? What is the problem in the story and how do you think it will be solved? What is the main idea of the story?) These questions will really help the children to begin thinking about what they are reading.

Also... don't forget to visit your local library with your child! This way they will have lots of books to choose from each night to read
 !
