On Wednesday, September 6th, Thursday, September 7th, and Friday, September 8th, your scholars will be taking the the CoGat test. Please have them here no later than 8:00.
In math we have been working on counting to 120 and last week we started doing work problems. For word problems we have been focused on adding mostly, but in the next few weeks we will be introducing some subtraction work problems. If possible please review addition and subtraction flash cards at home with your child. The more practice they recieve the more successful they will be with the skill. Last week I introduced making a group of 10, this week we are working on how to make teen number using groups of tens and how many ones.
The last two weeks we have focused on characters and setting in Reading. We will continue practicing this skill as well as recalling facts from the book. Thank you for all of you that are reading with your child every night, I enjoy seeing this on the homework. For writing we will continue working on small moment, or narratives (telling a story). It has been a enjoy hearing from your students all of the wonderful adventures you had this summer. I am pleased with the progress we have already started making.
We start Social Studies this week, we will be talkiing about where we live. Specifically, what city, state, country, continent, and plant we live on. This is also a good time for you to work with your child on his or her home address.
